Show Notes

Get your hiking shoes (or just take them off completely) and let's climb these parenting hills we will absolutely die on! As seasoned moms, we are lowkey throwing milestone timelines out the window and just letting our kids grow at their own pace. In this episode, we go back and forth on our our strict household rules like why we stand ten toes down on "no shoes in the house" and why we will gladly make our kids a second dinner of cereal at 7:30 PM. We also discuss why escaping the house with our little monsters is always better than staying home, our realistic takes on daily screen time, and our hardcore stance on why you should never share toys if you can just leave them in the car. Plus, we get into the messy reality of banned household items like slime and Play-Doh, the absolute safety necessity of cutting grapes forever, and why you should never wake a sleeping baby under any circumstance. Finally, we even test ChatGPT to see how well it knows our personal pet peeves (spoiler alert: it called us out for being late). What crazy parenting hill do you die on? Drop it in the comments below, hit that notification bell, and subscribe!

[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hello. [00:00:02] Speaker B: You guys, stop. Isn't mom o' clock yet? I'm going crazy. Heck yeah. [00:00:08] Speaker A: It's mom o' clock somewhere. [00:00:16] Speaker B: Okay, we are talking about hills we will die on. [00:00:19] Speaker A: I die on so many hills. [00:00:21] Speaker B: You do. And you're so dramatic about the hills you die on. [00:00:24] Speaker A: I die on them. [00:00:25] Speaker B: You're like, I stand ten toes down on this. [00:00:28] Speaker A: Okay, first of all, you didn't have to go that deep with your voice. That's one. Did I say welcome back? Because welcome back to our deep voice segment. [00:00:36] Speaker B: I do have a deep voice. [00:00:37] Speaker A: I have a deeper voice. [00:00:38] Speaker B: I cannot stand my voice. I cannot believe we have a podcast with my voice. It is so bad. [00:00:44] Speaker A: I love my voice. [00:00:45] Speaker B: We know. No, I truly, like, cringe over mine. [00:00:51] Speaker A: I don't like hearing my voice, but I do love it. [00:00:53] Speaker B: I don't know. Okay, before you are a mom, we have all these parenting rules that we thought that we would have, and we've talked about them before, but every mom has those parenting hills that they will absolutely not budge on. Some are about safety, some are about boundaries, and some make absolutely no sense at all. But we will stand 10 toes down on them. [00:01:14] Speaker A: I die on hills. [00:01:15] Speaker B: I die on so many hills. So today we're talking about the parenting hills we will die on, the rules we will refuse to break, the things we secretly judge other parents for and the ones Dom and I might disagree on. So let's get into it. [00:01:29] Speaker A: What hill will you absolutely die on? [00:01:32] Speaker B: So when I was a first time mom, I was, like, so concerned about, like, milestones. Like, my kid reaching the milestone. [00:01:41] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:01:42] Speaker B: And now development. Yeah, development. Anything really. Like, development phases. And now as a third time mom, I will die on the hill of my kid will do what they need to do at their right time. Like, I'm not going to compare myself milestones. Like at the doctor's office. Like, oh, your kid's not smiling, your kid's not crawling, your kid's not walking. Like, you have to check all these boxes. Like, with potty training, like, if they're not potty trained by three years old or like getting rid of a binky at whatever age, Like, I will die on the hill of now as a more seasoned mother. Like, my kid will do what they need to do at their right time, and I'm not gonna force them. That's a good one. I will give them tools to help them and support them in whatever phase I'm trying to get to, but I'm not gonna make a timeline of, like, you have to do this at a certain amount of months, years, whenever. [00:02:37] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:37] Speaker B: So I'm gonna stand on that hill. [00:02:38] Speaker A: That's a good hill to die on. A hill that I die on. [00:02:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:42] Speaker A: Is I die on multiple. [00:02:44] Speaker B: Yes. [00:02:44] Speaker A: I die on a lot of hills. [00:02:45] Speaker B: Yes. [00:02:46] Speaker A: But one hill that's like popping up to me. I don't know if it's like my most aggressive one, but I am now, and I think it's gonna get even more. I'm gonna die even quicker on this hill. I think schedules change and die out and nothing is ever the same as what it was. So I used to die on a different hill in regard to his schedule. Like, he needs to go to bed at this time and I still die on the hill. Like, if he doesn't, it's gonna. [00:03:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:19] Speaker A: But I do feel like I'm dying on the hill of the fact that you can do whatever you want at two months old, but at two years, it don't matter. [00:03:33] Speaker B: Well, that's kind of like what I [00:03:34] Speaker A: said, because it's exactly what you say. So maybe I should pick a different hill. [00:03:37] Speaker B: But I didn't talk about that side of it because, like, you could sleep train the shit out of your form and you can have them down, cry it out, do whatever you can. And then they turn. [00:03:46] Speaker A: Remember Gio used to sleep through the night, like two months. You're like, yeah, okay. [00:03:49] Speaker B: He was an amazing sleeper. [00:03:50] Speaker A: Yeah. And. [00:03:51] Speaker B: And then they turn two fucking in my bed, shit goes out the window. [00:03:54] Speaker A: Out the window. So I'm die on the hill that I'm not going to die on the hill of. [00:03:59] Speaker B: You're just gonna be like. More like. But it's hard though. [00:04:02] Speaker A: Cause I'm climb the hill. [00:04:03] Speaker B: When you're in the moment of. Let's just pick, for example, sleep training. Okay, so like, you have this newborn baby and you really want them to sleep. Yeah. Let's say at four months old, like, you want to do the damn thing. You want to sleep train. So, like, in that moment, like, you're going to die on the hill of I am going to commit to sleep training in whatever way you want to do it. Like, I did cry it out and it was awful. And like, looking back now, it's like, why'd I do that? My kids don't sleep now. [00:04:29] Speaker A: Sleep now. They wake up early, they're in your bed, they're in different cribs. [00:04:33] Speaker B: But it's easy to say that, like, in the moment, you want them to sleep. [00:04:35] Speaker A: So that's your moment. [00:04:36] Speaker B: Right. [00:04:37] Speaker A: But like, I. I'm Downhill. Another hill I'm gonna die on, though. Shoes in the house. [00:04:41] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:42] Speaker A: No shoes in the house. Yeah, Listen, I'm not like, take your shoes off. If you walk in my house and you cut. It's like, my dad walks my house with his shoe. Walks in my house with his shoes on. [00:04:50] Speaker B: Like, but it'll be like, it's like your house rule. [00:04:52] Speaker A: Like, it's my house rule. If you're, like, coming in and you're, like, staying, you're taking your shoes off. [00:04:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Dying on the hill. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:00] Speaker A: Dying. Rolling down. Dead. [00:05:02] Speaker B: My kids are falling to the ground. [00:05:04] Speaker A: I'm still gonna be dead. [00:05:05] Speaker B: Yeah. My kids are funny. Like, you would probably think we're a shoe house, but we're actually a natural. And if. If you step on the rug in the living room with your shoes, they yelled at me, police. [00:05:15] Speaker A: I stepped on your rug. [00:05:16] Speaker B: My kids are police about it because that's. I at them for it. Even though the rug is disgusting. [00:05:20] Speaker A: I mean, my rug and my couch is disgusting. I don't even wear shoes in my house. [00:05:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:25] Speaker A: But, like, think about all the things that fall on the ground. Even when you're. You have a. You have a infant and they're crawling. [00:05:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:05:30] Speaker A: Or a newborn. Not newborn infant. [00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:32] Speaker A: And I mean, just. It's really. If you really look it up and go do a deep dive on shoes in the house, it's got to disgust. [00:05:39] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Because you could step in and walk in the house. Puke and anything outside. [00:05:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:44] Speaker B: Another hill I will die on. I thought that I wouldn't be this way, but I 100% am. You know, the parents that are like, this is what's for dinner? I made dinner. This is what's for dinner. That's it. I am dying on the hill of. If my kids say they're hungry, like, I will make a second dinner. Like, we will be having cereal at 7:30 every night. [00:06:02] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I'm. I didn't even grow up like that. [00:06:05] Speaker B: I didn't either. But, like, a lot of parents are like, I will die on the hill of this is what I'm making for dinner. And that's that if you don't eat it, you don't eat. No, but I won't. [00:06:13] Speaker A: My kid wants. I mean, let me tell you what my kid ate yesterday. [00:06:16] Speaker B: Mm. [00:06:17] Speaker A: He had an orange for breakfast and a yo. I don't even know if he ate the yogurt. Probably didn't. He had a lollipop. He had pretzels. The everything seasoning pretzels. He had a piece of toast and two bananas. [00:06:34] Speaker B: Isiano Zempic. [00:06:35] Speaker A: That was his day. Like, do your kids eat more than that? [00:06:39] Speaker B: I mean, no. [00:06:40] Speaker A: You know that is weird, right? [00:06:41] Speaker B: I think Rocco. [00:06:42] Speaker A: Should I be concerned? [00:06:43] Speaker B: Skittles. Well, we went to the movie, so he had popcorn. [00:06:47] Speaker A: Like, did your kids get up and eat breakfast? [00:06:49] Speaker B: I mean, Joey and Vienna will, but Rocco's a terrible eater. They eat when they want to eat. It's so annoying. [00:06:55] Speaker A: It's annoying, though. Cause, like, you can't help but think something's wrong. [00:06:58] Speaker B: I know. [00:06:59] Speaker A: Anyway, dying on another hill. [00:07:01] Speaker B: What about this hill? [00:07:02] Speaker A: Do you die on the hill of getting out of the house is better than staying in the house? [00:07:07] Speaker B: Yes. [00:07:08] Speaker A: You do die on that hill. I don't die on that hill. [00:07:10] Speaker B: So recently, recently, since I have three kids, home all day long, no camps. I know. I did it to myself. Pretzels. So much easier. It's hard, but it is easier for them to make a mess, do something, Be out and do something and not stay home all day. [00:07:29] Speaker A: But not easier on you. [00:07:30] Speaker B: No, in a sense, it is easier on me. I mean, getting them out and into the car. Like, I would rather, like, go to a diner and go to a play than stay home all day long. Even though it is hard to get all three in, buckle them, do the damn thing. But if you stay home all day long with my Little monsters. [00:07:49] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. I got it. [00:07:50] Speaker B: It's hard. I mean, I do it all the time, but, like, I think I'd rather [00:07:54] Speaker A: die on the hill of leaving. [00:07:55] Speaker B: I'd rather leave. Yes. [00:07:58] Speaker A: I'm not. I'm not dying yet. [00:08:00] Speaker B: I'm like, still no, I, I. But, like, I could see. I could see. Staying home is way easier if you have one kid. [00:08:06] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. Yeah. [00:08:08] Speaker B: Because, like, you could still play in the house, do things. [00:08:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:12] Speaker B: What about this hill? [00:08:13] Speaker A: Oh, my God. Different hill. [00:08:15] Speaker B: My kid never has to hug or kiss anyone. Like, you're not. Are you. Are you dying on that hill? [00:08:22] Speaker A: No, you go, hello. [00:08:23] Speaker B: So a lot of parents are like, if. [00:08:25] Speaker A: Wow, that's a thing. [00:08:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:26] Speaker A: I hate that. [00:08:28] Speaker B: You don't have to hug Aunt Tony. Aunt Tony. [00:08:32] Speaker A: I grew up where you have to go say hello no matter what. [00:08:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:37] Speaker A: No matter what. [00:08:37] Speaker B: Yeah. I hate Italians. I. I'm just gonna say one thing. [00:08:43] Speaker A: You don't. You, you, you are not like that. You don't. [00:08:46] Speaker B: No, no. [00:08:46] Speaker A: I mean, it's Italian family. You have to. [00:08:48] Speaker B: Yes. But I, I have to say, I do have to say I love, love, love an Irish goodbye. Like, I do not want to go around and hide. [00:08:56] Speaker A: Yeah, I can't do that. [00:08:56] Speaker B: I just don't. [00:08:58] Speaker A: I don't have ever Irish goodbye to my life. [00:09:00] Speaker B: Oh, I will. And my husband has not especially having kids. Like I'm just like, I got too much going on. Bye everyone. I love you. [00:09:07] Speaker A: Irish goodbye is not saying anything to anybody. Irish goodbye is not doing. [00:09:11] Speaker B: I'm just like, oh well I'll say [00:09:13] Speaker A: that's an Irish goodbye. But like Irish guys is literally like just walking out. [00:09:16] Speaker B: Yeah, well, I'll do the from afar. [00:09:19] Speaker A: I've done that because it's just so [00:09:21] Speaker B: hard to go up to. Everyone kiss everyone, say bye. Bye. [00:09:23] Speaker A: Bye Nona. You have to say bye to Nona. [00:09:26] Speaker B: 100. [00:09:27] Speaker A: Your mother in law. Your mom. [00:09:28] Speaker B: Yes. The people that are the hosters or like the people that are important or the old folks that are the old folks. Yes. [00:09:35] Speaker A: Yeah. So that's a hill I die on. [00:09:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. What about other hills? I have a needing to know where your kids are and who they are with at all times. [00:09:46] Speaker A: Oh yeah, he'll die. [00:09:47] Speaker B: I will die on that. Dying. I went to the movies the other day and I brought my, the kids I used to babysit. Who was my flower grown up. You had five kids? Yes. [00:09:57] Speaker A: No. Parent. Other parent. [00:09:59] Speaker B: No, I went with, I brought five kids and then my neighbors met us there too. So two other kids. But I had, I had what other parents? My Neighbor had her two kids and then I had five. Okay, but they're older. They're 14. And they were 14 and 16. But so Joey had to go to the bathroom. Right. And Natalie, she's 16. She was like, I'll take him. And I was like sweating in my seat. Like, do I trust a 16 year old to take my 5 year old to a bathroom? [00:10:24] Speaker A: You were getting nervous. He's like, I don't even think like know her well. [00:10:27] Speaker B: No, no, obviously I trust her. But like she's still 16. Like she's a baby herself. Like anyone something could happen to her. I was responsible of her and my son. And they were both going to the bathroom and I couldn't see them so I was like. [00:10:39] Speaker A: So she took him to the girl's bathroom. [00:10:41] Speaker B: Right. Well, I said, I go, nat, make sure you take her. Because I didn't know if she knew so. But she did. They were fine. Yeah. And my mom's probably gonna yell at me for letting that happen. [00:10:49] Speaker A: Literally. [00:10:50] Speaker B: But no, but like certain things like that like you have to think about but I will die on the hill of like if I can. No I want to know where my kids are and who they're with at all times. [00:10:59] Speaker A: Yeah, totally. I'm bad at that, though. [00:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:01] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:11:02] Speaker B: You're like, yeah, he's fine, but it's. It's. I mean, it's hard. [00:11:05] Speaker A: It is hard. [00:11:06] Speaker B: Okay, wait. [00:11:06] Speaker A: What about the hill of. Wait, I just. I just thought about it. I think I wrote it down. Oh, the biggest. The biggest hill. Screen time. Oh, I used to die on the hill of my kids. Not. I'm gonna. I will do screen time. But it's under my radar right now. TV goes on in the morning and it stays on all day. [00:11:28] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, obviously, everyone knows. [00:11:31] Speaker A: So I'm on the hill of bring [00:11:34] Speaker B: me a screen or I will die. [00:11:36] Speaker A: Literally, bring me a screen or I will die. [00:11:38] Speaker B: I, like, I have to say my kids, I don't really monitor their actual screen time, but, like, if they. If there's an opportunity for them to play outside or do something, like, they'd rather do that. [00:11:48] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, totally. Yeah. So he doesn't have an iPad, so it's like, really just a TV that's, like, on in the background. [00:11:53] Speaker B: No, we have iPads, but, like, they're still fine with, like, doing other things, so I don't really know. [00:11:59] Speaker A: You don't? That's what I always said. Like, if my kid is still. [00:12:01] Speaker B: And they're not scrolling TikTok. [00:12:03] Speaker A: They're not scrolling TikTok. [00:12:04] Speaker B: What about the hill of. You don't have to share everything. So let's say you do. You do. Do you really think that? [00:12:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:11] Speaker B: Okay, so this is an example of a kid at the town pool, brought toys to the pool, right? And they had this one specific toy. Like, they loved it so much, and, like, they put it down for a second, and another kid grabbed it. And the mom was, like, trying to navigate, like, the kid. Her kid having a tantrum. But, like, also trying to teach sharing because, like, kids do not share under three years old. It is so hard for kids to share. Yeah, but it was so funny because I was just, like, observing this mother, and the funny thing about the story was she got. [00:12:44] Speaker A: I get nervous. I, like, I am, like, cried out, give it to the other kid. [00:12:47] Speaker B: Yeah, it's like. It's like. It's like, what do you do? But so the funniest thing about this situation was the mom had a bag of toy, like, pool toys for her kid, and this other little kid just kept going in her bag and taking the toy. [00:12:59] Speaker A: Oh, see, that I don't fuck with. [00:13:00] Speaker B: Right. So but under her breath, it was the funniest thing. The mom was like, this motherfucker stopped taking my toys. And, like, and then she'd bring the toy back, and then the kid would, like, go. And, like. And where's the mother of the kid that's taking the toy? [00:13:13] Speaker A: Okay, you can come play with my toy, but where's your mom? [00:13:16] Speaker B: And I came over and was like, [00:13:18] Speaker A: hey, I forgot pool toys. Do we. Do you care to play? [00:13:20] Speaker B: It was a grandma that wasn't really paying attention. I was watching the whole thing. And, like, I was laughing because I don't. In that scenario. I would probably act the same way because the mom was trying to be nice. Like, okay, honey, like, you can take it, but, like, don't go in my bag. Like, that's like, personal space. [00:13:34] Speaker A: Like, don't go in my bag. [00:13:35] Speaker B: Right. But the kid just kept going in the bag, taking it. [00:13:38] Speaker A: So what hill is this? Sharing? [00:13:40] Speaker B: This is will you die on the hill of, like, if your kid has a toy, do they have to share it? Yes, they have teaching. Sharing is good. [00:13:48] Speaker A: Yeah. But not sharing is good. In a situation like that. Like, there was no asking. It was just kind of taking. Like, that doesn't need to be shared. But I'm saying, like, if you're with another kid. [00:13:57] Speaker B: Yeah. I always tell Rocco, like, if he's bringing a toy into your house, and, like, Gio wants that dinosaur, too. Like, you're sharing. You have to share because, like, it's like a tease. It's like you're bringing a new toy into someone else's house. Like, you have to expect. [00:14:09] Speaker A: Oh, I thought it would be the opposite. [00:14:11] Speaker B: No, you have to. That's like not sharing. [00:14:13] Speaker A: No. I thought you would say, like, if you bring your own toy. [00:14:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:16] Speaker A: You don't have to share it. [00:14:17] Speaker B: Oh. I mean, you can think that way, but I don't. [00:14:19] Speaker A: No, I don't. But I'm saying, like, that's how my mind would go. [00:14:22] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:14:23] Speaker A: Well, because I would never bring my. I would bring my toy to share with others into a house. [00:14:27] Speaker B: Right. But, like, if your kid has, like, an emotional support dinosaur that he's bringing everywhere. Right. And he's. I'm like, okay, if you don't want to share your toy, leave it in the car. That's okay. Okay. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Okay. [00:14:37] Speaker B: That's the hill I die on. [00:14:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:38] Speaker B: If you don't want to share, bring it in the car. If it's going out in the public, you're going to have to share it. Because that's just like, and probably not [00:14:45] Speaker A: want to bring it. It's a good way to, like, not have them. [00:14:47] Speaker B: And my kids don't. [00:14:47] Speaker A: Gio's in the States where he walks out with 10 toys like this. [00:14:50] Speaker B: No, they will keep their toys in the car if they don't want to share. [00:14:53] Speaker A: And none of them do. [00:14:55] Speaker B: No. [00:14:55] Speaker A: Gio walks out with 10 toys. No joke. I'm like. I'm not like. He's like. He's like, it's just a face. He's like that kid where, like, you ever see, like, a video, like, someone walking out or, like, taking weird things out of their fridge? Like a plant? He's that kid that walks out of the, like, with like, a large plant. I'm like, you're not bringing that. [00:15:12] Speaker B: There was nothing. No one was weirder than baby Joey. We called them his little. What do we call them? Shit, I forgot. We made a name for it. His CRO. [00:15:22] Speaker A: CRO. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Croces. Crotches. No, crochets. We just his little crochets. He'd have a toothbrush, like his emotional toothbrush. Chi does it too. Is that a spoon? Any weird thing, and he'd have it. And he. And he'd get little, like, bags, like, purse. [00:15:39] Speaker A: But it wouldn't be the same. [00:15:39] Speaker B: And he would keep them in there, [00:15:41] Speaker A: but it wouldn't be the same. [00:15:42] Speaker B: No, Joey would have, like, specific items. [00:15:44] Speaker A: No. Like, my son brings, like, different four items every time. Kids are weird. And then I'll be like, okay, we're leaving. He'll be like. And he'll have to walk out. He's so weird. [00:15:51] Speaker B: He's so weird. [00:15:52] Speaker A: That's a hill. I want to die. [00:15:54] Speaker B: I did die on this hill, but I fell off it because you fell off. [00:15:58] Speaker A: Are you alive now? [00:15:59] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm alive. But like, I wanted to die on the hill of no slime in the house. Because slime is the worst. Slime is the enemy. [00:16:06] Speaker A: Play doh. [00:16:07] Speaker B: Slime and Play doh. People think Play DOH isn't that bad, but Play DOH is so bad. [00:16:11] Speaker A: Play DOH is so bad. Especially stuck in my rug. [00:16:13] Speaker B: You know when Play doh's so bad? When it's stuck in the wicker furniture at your mother in law's house. [00:16:20] Speaker A: You gotta get a knife. It's carve it out. Play DOH chalk. Unless it's outside. [00:16:26] Speaker B: And you know what's really annoying? Wet chalk. Because it just. It turns into like, paint. Yeah. And it's just terrible. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Anything like that. [00:16:34] Speaker B: And stickers that are not puffy stickers. Non puffy stickers. [00:16:38] Speaker A: I love because you can get them up. [00:16:40] Speaker B: You can get them up. Oh my God. [00:16:41] Speaker A: Forget it. They're everywhere. [00:16:42] Speaker B: Forget it. [00:16:43] Speaker A: I found one like underneath a chair. [00:16:44] Speaker B: I have been scraping non puffy stickers to get off. And you know what? Goo gone. Have you heard of goo gone? Goo gone works. Yeah, but it is soap. Yeah. Hot water or ice. I think it's one or the other. Not sure. [00:16:59] Speaker A: I am dying on that hill also. [00:17:02] Speaker B: Yeah. What about the hill of cutting your kids like grapes forever? [00:17:06] Speaker A: Oh yeah, hell dying. [00:17:07] Speaker B: I'm dying on it. [00:17:08] Speaker A: I'm dead. I'm so deceased on that hill. It's insane. [00:17:11] Speaker B: I know some moms are like, I'm done cutting grapes, but I'm not. [00:17:14] Speaker A: I'm not. [00:17:15] Speaker B: I will send my seventh grader to school cutting grapes. [00:17:18] Speaker A: Yeah, like I could choke on a grape. I think my mom choked on a grape. [00:17:22] Speaker B: No, I know recently hot dogs and grapes people. [00:17:25] Speaker A: You cut your hot dog? [00:17:26] Speaker B: Oh yeah. Except my kids like to hold the hot dog now. [00:17:29] Speaker A: Well, now Gio likes to hold just the hot dog like this. Yeah, [00:17:34] Speaker B: it looks unsafe. [00:17:36] Speaker A: I know. And gross. I hate hot dogs. [00:17:38] Speaker B: Yeah, I do not like hot dogs either. My kids love them though. [00:17:41] Speaker A: I mean. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Yeah, all kids love hot dogs. I will die. I can't believe this wasn't the first thing I said. [00:17:45] Speaker A: Wait, I love this next hill. Go. [00:17:47] Speaker B: I will die on the hill of never ever ever waking a sleeping baby. [00:17:54] Speaker A: Oh my God. Dying like dead. [00:17:58] Speaker B: I don't care. [00:17:58] Speaker A: Never waking up again. Don't speak to me. Eyes are closed. I am not gonna wake if you shake me. [00:18:05] Speaker B: Like I. It's so funny. And I look back because I never. I did it. [00:18:08] Speaker A: I have never done it. [00:18:10] Speaker B: I didn't. But like I've seen my girlfriend for [00:18:12] Speaker A: a flight maybe, like if you have to. Yeah, if we got a fire's in the house. [00:18:17] Speaker B: Like if there's. [00:18:18] Speaker A: Even then I don't think I would wake him. [00:18:20] Speaker B: I will. No, but it is such a hill. Like, my God. [00:18:26] Speaker A: I go, if someone says it, I'm like, do not, don't wake. [00:18:30] Speaker B: Don't. [00:18:30] Speaker A: Like sometimes like people be like, who said it? The other day I think I was somewhere and someone was like, should we just wake your sister in law? [00:18:38] Speaker B: Maybe? [00:18:39] Speaker A: I think it was Steph. [00:18:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, don't wake them. Just. Was it Steph? [00:18:43] Speaker A: I don't know who it was. Don't ever wake a sleeping baby. [00:18:46] Speaker B: I mean, I. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Or someone said it to me. I think. I think someone said it to me. I don't think it was anybody. [00:18:51] Speaker B: I Mean, I will go so much so where like if Rocco's sleeping and it's like he's literally been sleeping since 2pm and he's sleeping until 6:30, I will still not wake him. [00:19:00] Speaker A: Wait, so it was me. [00:19:01] Speaker B: I will deal with the consequences at 9pm later that night. But right now, in the moment, let him sleep. [00:19:08] Speaker A: Wait. So we got home from the boat, our neighbors were over Molly and James. And it was towards May And Gio fell asleep on the boat. And you know him, he never transfers. Transferred to the room at like, wow, 2:30. Was still asleep by like 6. [00:19:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:24] Speaker A: Or maybe it was like 5:30. And everyone's like, you need to wake him up. Like, he needs to eat dinner. He needs to. No, died on the hill. [00:19:30] Speaker B: Died on the hill. [00:19:31] Speaker A: I 10 toes down. I was like, I am not waking him up. Yes, I'm waking him up. [00:19:34] Speaker B: The other day we went. Rocco fell asleep. It was a 12 minute car ride to the club. Okay, we're going out to dinner. [00:19:41] Speaker A: Oh yeah, he fell asleep. [00:19:42] Speaker B: He fell asleep in the car. And I was like, fuck. Like, this is gonna be hell because he's gonna wake up when I pick him up to go into the restaurant. And I picked him up. He stayed asleep on my shoulder. We get to, we're at. This is our fancy golf club place, country club. We laid out three chairs. I made a little bed for him. He laid on the chair. Didn't slept the whole time. Slept the entire time. [00:20:05] Speaker A: You don't care that he didn't eat Over. [00:20:06] Speaker B: Didn't care. [00:20:07] Speaker A: He won't eat that when he wakes up, he won't eat either. [00:20:09] Speaker B: No, the kid's not eating. [00:20:10] Speaker A: No starving. She was in the stage where he doesn't eat, but now he knows his belly hurts if he doesn't eat. [00:20:15] Speaker B: So then he's hungry. [00:20:16] Speaker A: So he'll be like, mommy, my belly hurts. So like the first couple times it happened, I'm like, oh my God. God. He must like not feel good, right? But then that's the day I gave him any hands. He ate every piece. [00:20:25] Speaker B: You know how big that gave him good food. [00:20:26] Speaker A: He gave. He ate all the inans. I'm like, honey, you're just hungry. Your belly doesn't hurt. [00:20:30] Speaker B: I can't handle if a kid says they're hungry because it's like, that's like a need. [00:20:34] Speaker A: You need like, okay, that's why I have snacks. I have snacks at all times of the day. [00:20:39] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. [00:20:40] Speaker A: My son wakes up and is like. I was like, what do you want? For breakfast, babe. And he'll be like, snacks. I'm like, you're not getting snacks for breakfast. I think I, like, created a monster. [00:20:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:49] Speaker A: Because I just always get. [00:20:50] Speaker B: You know, it's so many kids, though. I was with my nieces and nephews over the weekend and just wants. They're just snack queens and that's it. And kings. That's all they want. [00:20:58] Speaker A: And that's that. [00:20:59] Speaker B: And they're fine. [00:20:59] Speaker A: And that's a hill. I'll die on snacks. [00:21:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:02] Speaker A: And not feeding my kid if. If they're sleeping. [00:21:03] Speaker B: Yeah. No. [00:21:04] Speaker A: Never waking up. I even. I never even woke him up when he was an infant and needed to be fed. [00:21:09] Speaker B: No, I. I mean, can't. What about this hill? [00:21:14] Speaker A: Tell me you're just asking. [00:21:17] Speaker B: I'll never let my kids eat in the car. [00:21:20] Speaker A: Oh, that hill has got knocked down. Built back up. Knocked down again. [00:21:26] Speaker B: Joe. [00:21:27] Speaker A: I think I had to switch car seats at one point. [00:21:29] Speaker B: Yeah, Joe. Joe would die on that hill. But not in my. [00:21:31] Speaker A: Does he let you eat? [00:21:33] Speaker B: Well, I mean, he not like, if we're driving my truck, we're eating in the truck. We are having picnics in my truck. [00:21:40] Speaker A: Oh, my God. I will have literal picnics. [00:21:42] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Yeah. Like, that's an activity. Do you want to have a car? [00:21:44] Speaker A: Sometimes I have things that, like, literally shouldn't be eaten in the car. Yeah. [00:21:48] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:49] Speaker A: And still stained on my seat. [00:21:51] Speaker B: I will die on that hill. [00:21:51] Speaker A: I used to feed bottles in the car. [00:21:53] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. [00:21:55] Speaker A: I'm. I'm dead on that hill. Like, you can't imagine. I dropped dead on that hill. [00:22:00] Speaker B: Yes. What other. What other hills? [00:22:04] Speaker A: I used to die on a hill of always putting the COVID on my shopping cart. Oh, that hill doesn't exist. [00:22:11] Speaker B: Oh, wait, so you don't do it anymore? [00:22:13] Speaker A: No. [00:22:13] Speaker B: Wow. I'm surprised. [00:22:15] Speaker A: I will clean it if I can, though. [00:22:16] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I never owned one, but I. I envy the people that actually put them on. [00:22:23] Speaker A: I don't have time. I have no time to put it on. It's like the time is ticking for us to get in Target and get out. I mean, he wants to walk anyway, which is terrible. That's why I can't go anywhere. So he just wants to walk. [00:22:32] Speaker B: So that's the most annoying thing. So I. I would die on the hill of, like, they. I will. [00:22:36] Speaker A: I will have to be in a stroller. [00:22:37] Speaker B: They have to be in a cart. No, if you're with me, you're in a fucking cart. [00:22:41] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:22:41] Speaker B: But now, like, he stands in the car. Yeah. And. And, like, honestly, sometimes it's easier to have him out of the cart now. Well, if I have. If I. If I. I rarely take all three to the food store. [00:22:53] Speaker A: But if Joey walks, Vienna walks Joey. [00:22:55] Speaker B: Joey has to walk Vienna. Vienna will sit in a cart. Like, Vienna will do whatever I say. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:00] Speaker B: But the most annoying thing that happens now is when I take Rocco to the food store and he needs that car cart, okay? So that little tyke red and yellow car. So I have him in that, and then it's a giant actual food cart. And then halfway through, he doesn't even want to ride the car. [00:23:20] Speaker A: You have this big fucking tonkula. [00:23:21] Speaker B: So I have this tonkula that I am pushing. And do you know how hard it is when you get to the aisle to get the groceries out to put it in when you have a car and then a car? So I am literally doing acrobats. [00:23:33] Speaker A: Acrobats like this. [00:23:34] Speaker B: To get the food onto the conveyor. Hate that. [00:23:38] Speaker A: We'll die on it. [00:23:39] Speaker B: We'll never get that car card again. Wait. [00:23:41] Speaker A: I'm so happy that Whole Foods doesn't have that snow. [00:23:43] Speaker B: It's terrible. [00:23:44] Speaker A: My son doesn't experience. [00:23:46] Speaker B: Yeah, no, that is. Whole Foods have, like, those mini, like, [00:23:51] Speaker A: I don't know, but I don't know. [00:23:52] Speaker B: Or is that Trader Joe's? [00:23:53] Speaker A: It's Trader Joe's. [00:23:54] Speaker B: Oh, it's so cute. Those are cute. When the kid actually can, like, shop next to you. [00:23:58] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:23:58] Speaker B: Do you know what I'm talking about? It's like a little mini cart. [00:24:01] Speaker A: They also have the ones where they can both sit. [00:24:03] Speaker B: Oh, Target has a 4:1. I know we do that. But they're so hard to push. [00:24:09] Speaker A: Target carts are so heavy. [00:24:11] Speaker B: No, they're so heavy. Can you ask why they are so heavy alone, especially. No, but especially the one. So if you have three kids and they're still sitting in carts, you have the two. The two in the actual seats. And then you have the two here so they're, like, facing each other and you're pushing, and then you still have the actual cart. And then you're loading the shit on, and then you're down the aisle. 500 pounds in it. [00:24:30] Speaker A: Can't be down the aisle. [00:24:31] Speaker B: Same. [00:24:32] Speaker A: No, I'm dying on that hill. Whatever hill that is. Don't know what other hill. I'm gonna ask chat. [00:24:39] Speaker B: Ask chat. [00:24:41] Speaker A: Since you know me so well, what hill would I die on? And I'm not talking about an actual hill. I'm talking about metaphorically. What hill will I die on? Let me give you an example. I'm. I don't allow shoes in my house. So that's a hill I will die on. I will not allow shoes in my house. Tell me what you think. Another hill I will die on. Is. [00:25:02] Speaker B: Is it gonna. Read it? [00:25:04] Speaker A: I'm not reading it. [00:25:04] Speaker B: It's crazy how you talk to like I wanna. How do you do that? [00:25:07] Speaker A: I always talk to my phone. Let's go chat. Okay. Chat said. Oh, okay. This is actually fun because I feel like I know you and your personality well. I think your heels are less about being right and more about things that just make sense to you. Shoes not being in the house. End of discussion. If you say you're. You're coming come last minute cancellations drive you nuts. [00:25:29] Speaker B: Yes. [00:25:30] Speaker A: Dying on that hill. [00:25:31] Speaker B: Yes. [00:25:31] Speaker A: If you support someone, actually support them. Don't watch every story, never like or comment. Share. You talked about. You talk about this a lot. Die on this hill. A good outfit can completely change your mood. Dying on that hill. If you're bringing food to someone's house, don't show up empty handed. Diana. That's weird. I've never talked about this with Chat. Well, yeah, like I've never physically said like people don't support me. To chat. [00:25:52] Speaker B: Chat is insane. Chat knows you text me back. [00:25:55] Speaker A: Even if it's just. I'll answer later. Dying on that hill. You don't need a Pinterest perfect birthday party to be a good mom. Dying on that hill. Okay, being five minutes early is on time. Dying on that hill. But I don't die on that hill because I'm always late. [00:26:09] Speaker B: You're always late? Yeah. I will die on the hill of [00:26:11] Speaker A: always a clean kitchen before bed. Dying on that hill. [00:26:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:14] Speaker A: I. I actually created that hill. I lived on it and I died on it. So I always, I never go upstairs without a clean kitchen. [00:26:22] Speaker B: That's. That's an amazing hill. [00:26:23] Speaker A: To be on an amazing hill. [00:26:25] Speaker B: I. I've done it and I like strive to do it. [00:26:29] Speaker A: Okay. Lastly, people need to say what they mean instead of expecting others to read their minds. Dying on that hill. Kindness costs nothing. Dying on that hill. If your toddler is happy, fed and loved, you're doing enough. Dying on that hill. [00:26:44] Speaker B: Some parents at the hills that like bringing it back to real motherhood. People die on how like bedtime is sacred and like if, if you are anywhere, like you have to leave the party to get home to. [00:26:55] Speaker A: Oh no, not die on that. [00:26:56] Speaker B: No, me neither. [00:26:56] Speaker A: Me and my sister in law just Talked about this. [00:26:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:59] Speaker A: And right now they're in the nine month stage. So like, I was very strict in my schedule too. And so is she. Which, like, if they don't nap, they'll look back. [00:27:06] Speaker B: Ellen. [00:27:06] Speaker A: Yeah, they'll look back. No, but if they don't nap, like at that time I was like, if she doesn't nap right now. [00:27:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:12] Speaker A: She's never going to sleep. [00:27:14] Speaker B: Right. [00:27:14] Speaker A: I died on that hill back then. Now I'm like, if she doesn't nap, like it's gonna be a show either way. Whatever. [00:27:19] Speaker B: I think it just depends on the age of the kid. [00:27:21] Speaker A: Yeah. What are we talking about? [00:27:23] Speaker B: Just like leaving somewhere to get home to bedtime. [00:27:26] Speaker A: But she was like, I will never leave a party to go put her down for a nap. But people die on that hill. Oh my God. It is the most. And it's annoying for me. Even though I have nothing to do with you, you're annoying me. Stop dying on that hill. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's like trying to make plans when like a parent is like really adamant on their kid napping during the day. [00:27:45] Speaker A: I do. [00:27:45] Speaker B: I'm gonna make a plan with you. If one of your kids needs to have one o' clock nap at nine. [00:27:50] Speaker A: Are you speaking to me? Because that's kind of me. But I'm like that because of me. [00:27:54] Speaker B: Like, I'm like, Cause you get that time. [00:27:56] Speaker A: Yes. I say I need him to nap. [00:27:58] Speaker B: Right. [00:27:58] Speaker A: Not because he needs to nap. I'm never like, he needs to nap. It's like, because I need him to nap. [00:28:02] Speaker B: No, a hundred percent. [00:28:03] Speaker A: I'll say I need him to nap 100%. [00:28:06] Speaker B: Oh, you would rather be the crazy mom who asked too many questions than the mom who ignored your gut feeling. Okay, I would die on that. [00:28:13] Speaker A: That's a good hell. [00:28:15] Speaker B: If one of my kids says. If one of your kids says that they are uncomfortable around someone, you don't need a second reason you're gonna leave. [00:28:22] Speaker A: Wait, has that happened to you? [00:28:23] Speaker B: No, but that's what it says. No, my kids are not. Oh my God. If my kids told me that a person made them uncomfortable, I'd be like, I'm calling the police. [00:28:31] Speaker A: I would go up to. I would confront them. [00:28:33] Speaker B: Yes. My kids have had independence. When it stops giving me anxiety. What does that even mean? [00:28:41] Speaker A: Chat does not know you. [00:28:43] Speaker B: No, I don't. My chat doesn't think I die on any hills. No, wait, I'm gonna ask like, Chad [00:28:48] Speaker A: knows I die in so many hills. [00:28:49] Speaker B: Chad said weird. [00:28:50] Speaker A: So we die on a lot of hills. I would love to hear what hills people die on. Like, this is the type of conversation I want to spark in people. [00:28:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:57] Speaker A: What hill do you die on? [00:28:58] Speaker B: Yeah. And I want you to comment, like, [00:29:00] Speaker A: something crazy, because I. When you're talking, when you're sitting here talking, you can't think. [00:29:03] Speaker B: We can't think of all the things [00:29:04] Speaker A: talking about, like, the general things. [00:29:05] Speaker B: About some good ones. [00:29:06] Speaker A: Yeah, we did, like, specific to us. But, like, I would love to hear, because I would be like, oh, my God, me too. [00:29:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:11] Speaker A: Or no. [00:29:12] Speaker B: Right. You know, I'm trying to think of, like, a crazy one. [00:29:14] Speaker A: I'm dying to hear that. [00:29:16] Speaker B: Oh, you know what? [00:29:17] Speaker A: I will die. [00:29:18] Speaker B: You're not going to agree with this. I will die on the hill of. I will put my kid in a onesie. Zip up till as long as they [00:29:24] Speaker A: will let me not die on that hill. I actually hate that hill. [00:29:28] Speaker B: I love. [00:29:29] Speaker A: Your son's going to be six. He shouldn't be wearing a onesie. Jiu hasn't worn a onesie since he's 10 months. [00:29:34] Speaker B: I know, and. 10 months, but your reason, like, because it's. You think it's easier to put on. They're, like, not a baby. [00:29:40] Speaker A: I think it's like. [00:29:41] Speaker B: I think it's. It's. I. I mean, adult people. There's adult onesies, Fur babies. [00:29:47] Speaker A: Those fur babies you talked about last episode, they're wearing onesies. [00:29:49] Speaker B: It's true. [00:29:50] Speaker A: Your son's gonna be a cat. [00:29:53] Speaker B: Don't say that. [00:29:53] Speaker A: Well, stop putting him into onesie. [00:29:55] Speaker B: Okay, to be fair, she's talking about Rocco, not Joey. And he's 2. [00:29:59] Speaker A: Joey has worn a onesie lately. I've seen it. [00:30:01] Speaker B: I mean. Yeah, the pretzels are in the building. Show the viewers. Show them. My tampons. [00:30:09] Speaker A: I just ordered doordash, salt and vinegar chips, a whole tub of salad. [00:30:15] Speaker B: Those are the pretzels you pick? [00:30:17] Speaker A: Yeah. Sourdough, your energy drink. [00:30:19] Speaker B: Thank you. [00:30:20] Speaker A: Oh, and your tampons. Okay, well, I'm going to go eat my sourdough pretzels. I hope you don't die on any hills. We love you. We're clocking out. Bye. [00:30:30] Speaker B: It.
